Woman Accused In Deadly DUI In Court

The 25-year-old Los Osos woman accused driving under the influence of alcohol when she allegedly struck and killed a local pastor was in court yesterday. Emily Bales is facing multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and felony hit and run resulting in death. A CHP investigator testified she had a Blood Alcohol Level of .13 at the time of the crash that killed 67-year-old Dale Paulsen last November. She told officers that she thought she hit a pole or something, but didn’t see what happened because she was texting at the time. Bales has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.
