Senate Bill Could Keep Students From Being Suspended

There is a bill making its way to the state Senate that could prevent schools from suspending disruptive students. Currently, students from Kindergarten to 3rd grade can’t be suspended for being disruptive or disobeying teachers and staff, but if Senate Bill 419 is passed, the same would apply for students up to 8th grade. According to KSBY, If approved, this bill would not only create change for students, it would do the same for school districts. Some opponents believe disruptive students should be removed from the classroom while supporters say many alternatives can correct and prevent disruptive behavior.
