Holland Family And Sheriff Together At Candlelight Vigil

The family of an inmate who died while in custody at the San Luis Obispo County jail three years ago and Sheriff Ian Parkinson were together at a candle light vigil last night. The vigil was in remembrance of Andrew Holland, who suffered from schizophrenia. He died in 2017 after being restrained for 46 hours. His mother Sharon Holland said her family and the Sheriff had found a way to move forward. Sheriff Parkinson said the newfound partnership is healing for the family, for the department and the community. Both want to see change at jails not just in SLO County, but nationwide.
