Catalytic Converter Thieves Arrested

Two suspected catalytic converter thieves were arrested this week in San Luis Obispo. According to Police, the two men from Merced were arrested early Tuesday morning. Officers responded to a report of a recently stolen catalytic converter on Devaul Ranch Road. Police caught up with a vehicle spotted leaving the scene. During the stop, an officer noticed eight catalytic converters in the rear of the car. 30-year-old Vue Xiong and 26-year-old Gary Lee were arrested on several burglary and drug charges. According to KSBY, Lee was let go under California’s catch and release program. Xiong is still being held due to warrants from El Dorado and Merced counties.
