If you noticed a lot of first responder activity at Pismo Beach yesterday, you weren’t alone. It was Cal Fire’s search and rescue crews training for ocean rescues. The increased activity was the kickoff to three days of training for Cal Fire Pismo Beach and Shell Beach stations. Crews used personal watercraft and surfboards to rescue simulated distressed swimmers and surfers. About 10 firefighters are taking part in this week’s training, including Pismo Beach lifeguards.
