A bit of clarity on the recent announcement of a “development” in the Kristin Smart missing person case. According to a spokesperson for the family, the first report in the Stockton Record was based on a conversation between “former FBI agent” and Kristin’s mother Denise Smart. In a statement released yesterday, the spokesperson said the Smart family was “overwhelmed with inquiries about the investigation,” and wanted to be clear that the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office was the lead agency on the investigation, and had NOT put a timeline on the completion of the investigation.
