Newsom Reopens Houses Of Worship With Restrictions

Governor Gavin Newsom announced churches and other places of worship are allowed to reopen for in-person services. ABC’s Alex Stone that State Health officials are allowing churches to resume in-person services and funerals at 25 percent of a building’s capacity or 100 people, whichever is less, the California Department of Public Health says in 21 days it will review the rule and decide if changes need to be made and if it can be loosened more. This move comes as Governor Gavin Newsom has been facing pressure from the Trump Administration and pastors to reopen churches. Meanwhile some local churches say their new rules will include members being encouraged to wear masks, avoid sharing prayer books, and skipping the collection plate during services.
