Petitions Circulating To Rescind Job Offer For Cal Poly’s Diversity and Inclusion V.P.

Last week, Cal Poly announced the hiring of Paulette Granberry Russell as the university’s vice president of diversity and inclusion. But, according to the Tribune, faculty members say they found it troubling that hiring for a position, meant to promote transparency and inclusion, was done behind closed doors. Cal Poly faculty members started circulating a petition last week calling on the university to rescind its job offer to Granberry Russell. A similar student petition has gathered more than 7,000 signatures. Granberry Russell oversaw the Title IX office at Michigan State University during one of the worst collegiate sexual abuse scandals in U.S. history.
