A housing project designed for seniors is slated to begin construction in Santa Maria next month. Sierra Madre Cottage will be a 40-unit complex that will include 36 one-bedroom apartments and four two-bedroom apartments. The project has been 10-years in the making. Officials are hopeful to have the first residents move in by late next year.
