Hundreds of Santa Maria residents will be volunteering to beautify Santa Maria this weekend. Serve Santa Maria is an organization that brings people together from different parts of the community to work on clean-up projects in the area. This year volunteers will fix up the landscape at Temple Beth El to spread a message of kindness in light of recent shootings at Jewish temples throughout the country. Other projects include painting churches, working on homes and planting trees in the parks. Volunteers can check in at the Abel Maldonado Community Center Saturday between 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
