Rural Counties Have Greater Arrest Numbers Than Urban Counties

Rural California counties, including San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara Counties saw greater arrest rates than more urban counties. That’s according to a recently released report by the Public Policy Institute of California. According to the report, In 2016, there were 5,035 arrests per 100,000 people in SLO County. Similar numbers were found in Santa Barbara, and Kern Counties. The lowest arrest rates per 100,000 people were in Riverside County, Santa Clara, and San Francisco Counties.
