With a record number of travelers on the roads this holiday weekend, the CHP was kept pretty busy. Statewide CHP officers made nearly 1,000 arrests for DUI. They also investigated 17 fatal crashes in which 21 people lost their lives. The CHP started its maximum enforcement period Friday afternoon and it ended last night just before midnight, so the final numbers on the holiday weekend aren’t in just yet.
