Firefighters made quick work of a vegetation fire that threatened a couple of Atascadero homes Saturday afternoon. Atascadero Fire and Cal Fire were called out to a report of fire on San Marcos Road at around 2 p.m… According to the CHP, the fire was located between two homes near highway 41. While firefighters had the flames contained in short order, they were on scene for a couple of hours monitoring for hit-spots. No damage was reported to any structures. The cause is believed to have been sparked by a lawnmower.
