The City of Santa Maria has begun the hiring process to fill 57 new positions. 36 of the positions have a direct connection to the voter-approved Measure U, which increased the city’s sales tax. The City will be filling full and part-time jobs. A majority of the positions that need to be filled will be in public safety. City officials say the number of positions that they need to fill is unprecedented in Santa Maria’s history.
