Police Departments across the country seem to be having the same problem. Recruiting and keeping qualified officers. The Central Coast is no exception. The Arroyo Grande Police Department currently has a number of openings, and more are on the horizon. According to KSBY, Over the past five years, the department has seen a decline in recruiting and retention of its officers. City officials recently approved a new recruiting program that may help find well-qualified officers. It includes a signing bonus and vacation time.
