While the Gilroy Garlic Festival Shooting investigation continues, Many Central Coast residents wonder if enough is being done to keep people safe at many popular local events. According to KSBY The San Luis Obispo City council approved installing barriers to prevent anyone from driving a vehicle into Farmers Market. The Downtown SLO organization says they frequently update their evacuation plan for events downtown. SLOPD says they have an officer on almost every block during the weekly Farmers Market.
