Cal Fire Starting To Gain On Lopez Fire

Cal Fire firefighters continue to battle a brush fire that broke out near Lopez Lake over the weekend. Officials Say crews were able to start getting a handle on the fire in the overnight hours. The Lopez Fire was first reported Saturday afternoon at around 2:30. Windy conditions and steep terrain helped the flames spread quickly. About two dozen homes were evacuated. According to Cal Fire SLO’s Twitter feed, those evacuations remain in effect until later this morning. Officials say the fire has scorched about 220 acres and was last reported to be roughly 20 percent contained. The cause is under investigation.
