Some Five Cities residents may notice a different smell and taste to their water starting next week. The San Luis Obispo County Public Works Department is going to change the disinfectant in the Lopez Project distribution system. The department will be switching to a stronger disinfectant meant to prevent any harmful bacteria from getting into the water supply. Officials say the taste or smell would be similar to a swimming pool.
