California Cities Told To Build Affordable Housing Or Face Possible Fines

Cities statewide need to come up with a plan to build more affordable housing in the next 9-years. In San Luis Obispo County, officials already have a plan to build close to 11,000 new homes. That number is divided among the cities and unincorporated communities in the county. If Governor Gavin Newsom’s goals aren’t met, cities and counties could face consequences from the state such as stiff fines and state funding. The state could also take control of development in some areas.
