Congressman Salud Carbajal has sponsored a bipartisan bill that could put Central Coast immigrant ag workers on the path to citizenship. The Farm Workforce Modernization Act would help undocumented farmworkers adjust their status. Qualifying agriculture workers would be able to apply to 5-year renewable visas. Those who meet certain criteria would be eligible for a green card down the line and eventually citizenship.
