COVID-19 case numbers seem to be heading in the wrong direction. San Luis Obispo County reported 333 new cases of COVID-19 over three days, bringing the county’s total to 6,873, with 4 people in ICU. Santa Barbara County added 470 new cases of COVID-19 over three days, bringing the county’s total to 12,379, with 15 patients in ICU. Meanwhile, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties want to break away and form a Central Coast region under California’s regional stay-at-home order that would tie restrictions to their collective ICU capacity, rather than the larger Southern California area as a whole and ensure the best outcomes for success for the three counties.
