5 Protesters Could Have Their Charges Dropped

Five of the seven people facing charges stemming from the July Black Lives Matter protest could have their charges dismissed. The San Luis Obispo County D.A.’s Office offered a re-trial diversion, meaning that if they successfully completed the program, the charges would be dropped. Most of the defense attorneys said they would be against taking the deal. It was not offered to Tianna Arata, the alleged protest organizer or, Robert Lastra who is facing a felony charge. One Attorney said their client would accept the deal only if D.A. Dan Dow resigned.
