San Luis Obispo County Health officials have identified a person who had contracted a potentially more dangerous variant of COVID-19. According to a press release, the person had contracted the so-called U.K. variant of the virus. That person has completed their isolation period and is no longer infectious. The C.D.C. elevated the U.K. variant of COVID-19 to a “variant of concern.” So far, current COVID-19 vaccines appear to remain effective against the variants.
