Wind Power Coming To The Central Coast

The ocean off the Central Coast could soon become a source of renewable energy. A nearly 400-square mile area northwest of Morro Bay is expected to be opened up for commercial leases as early as the middle of next year. Floating offshore wind platforms would be located 20 to 30 miles offshore and generate enough energy to power more than 1.5 million homes. Congressman Salud Carbajal calls the project a win-win. Gov. Gavin Newsom says it could help achieve the state’s clean energy goals.
