A federal judge handed environmentalists a win this week. The judge denied a request from the oil company DCOR, LLC to conduct fracking in the Santa Barbara Channel. Last year, a judge prohibited the Trump administration from approving the use of well stimulation treatments, including fracking, in offshore California. DCOR still moved ahead with its request, despite last year’s ruling. On Tuesday, the court ruled that harm to threatened and endangered species from fracking outweighs any monetary harm to the oil company.
