A deadly bird virus has forced the cancellation youth poultry shows at the California Mid-State Fair this year. California Mid-State Fair officials say they are joining other fairs and poultry organizations throughout the state in canceling their poultry shows and exhibits. The cancellation comes after a recent outbreak of virulent Newcastle disease that has affected birds throughout California. More than a million birds have been euthanized in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties. Mid-State Fair Officials are hopeful to resume their poultry shows next year.
